An ancient race of philosopher-scientists known as the Klein hold fast to their studies and traditions. The pursuit of knowledge is of the utmost importance; discipline and self-control are the signs of competence and intelligence. A single failing student is tasked with writing a report on a strange being from another planet- a human.
Ishae is apprehensive at first; the being is raw, foreign, with strange mannerisms and ideals. As the weeks go by, though, she is taken in by the human's capacity for emotion and the intimacy they begin to share. Her clinical studies give way to softer feelings, but some seek to sabotage their romance.
Can Ishae move past the limitations of Klein society and learn what it means to love?
